Pepper’s Wallet UX & Logo

Overview

Pepper’s Wallet is a game that teaches people with cognitive disabilities how to invest and manage money. They land in different financial situations by rolling the dice and they have to balance out their balance sheet to proceed. When they have excess money, they can invest the money into stock market products or put it away in savings. My role was a UX designer, to help design the wire frames for the various screens needed for the desktop version of this game. Taking what was laid out to something that developers could use to base their designs on.

  • Tools: Figma, Adobe Illustrator, and Mural
  • Team: Oxana Loseva and Britney Tu
  • Time: Originally 2 weeks, was cut down to 1 week due to unforeseen circumstances

During this time I researched and created a persona, site map, and logo for the game. We want to create a game that makes learning about investing and managing money fun and approachable. Especially with those with cognitive disabilities.

Exploration & Design Process

Competitive analysis

Similar games I was able to identify were Monopoly and The Game of Life board games. Both games have you roll a dice/leave it to chance determining how many spaces on the board you move. Each space affects what you can do and various events that will change your financial situation. With Pepper's Wallet, it will be aimed more toward an educational game with the angle of investing how a typical person would in real life.

Personas

This persona is based on information provided to me as well as what I was able to gather with my own research. The overall idea is to encapsulate the young adult who isn't as experienced with money or investing that wants to learn and improve on their own finances.

Logo

Site Map

I wanted to keep the connections between the different screens as simple as possible so players of the game are able to focus on the game itself.

Learnings

Due to the short time frame, "final designs" haven’t been made. However with this I was able to design a logo. create a persona, and a site map for Pepper's Wallet. If I were to start this process from the beginning again knowing the shorter time frame, I would have focused a bit more time on looking into how to make better connections for the site map as well as refining the logo more. Overall, I am happy with the work I was able to do given the circumstances.
